Duck Dynasty’s Sadie Hits Big Screen as Christian Student at Columbine

“Duck Dynasty” star Sadie Robertson has been cast in “I’m Not Ashamed,” a forthcoming filmabout the 1999 Columbine school shooting.

The film tells the story of 17-year-old Rachel Joy Scott, a devout Christian who was the first student killed during the 1999 massacre. The trailer for the film, which will be released April 20, 2016, has just been released.

Robertson, 18, will be playing a cousin of Scott and the person who was responsible for Scott’s conversion to Christianity. Also in the cast are Robertson’s sister, Bella Robertson, 12, who will also be playing one ofScott’s cousins, and Robertson’s mother, Korie Robertson, who is playingScott’s aunt.

Columbine killers Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold knew Scott, who had shared her faith in Jesus with them in the classroom. Moments before her death, they asked her, “Do you still believe in your God?” With a gun at her head she replied, “You know that I do.” “I’m Not Ashamed” is drawn directly from Scott’s writings.

When the film went into production over the summer, producer Chuck Howard of Big Film Factory said he was thrilled to work with the Robertsons  “All of the ‘Duck Dynasty’ people, they’re really incredible,” Howard toldThe Washington Times. “They really are what you see.”

Robertson was initially offered the lead role of Rachel Scott, but according to Howard, she didn’t feel ready. “She called back and said she said, ‘You know what? I don’t think I can pull off a complete lead like this. I’m not ready to do that. But she added, ‘I have to be in this movie, though. I want to be in this movie.’” Masey McLain, who has experience working in film and television commercials, has been cast to play Scott.
